The US Air Force (USAF) wants its next-generation Advanced Battle Management System (ABMS) to be a system-of-systems approach, of which a top service acquisition official admitted the air force has not been successful with in the past.
“ABMS will be an important programme,” William Roper, assistant secretary of the Air Force for acquisition, technology and logistics, told reporters on 18 September at the annual Air Force Association (AFA) conference outside Washington.
