A Middle East country has already placed an order for the Orion-E export version of the Orion unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) developed by Russia’s Kronshtadt Group, Dmitry Shugaev, director of Russia’s Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC), said in an interview published by RIA Novosti on 20 August.
“We already received first order from one of the Middle Eastern countries. This speaks that we are in tune with the current trend as we are striving to occupy new and prospective niches in the weapons market,” he said.
He added that the Orion-E is entirely made from composite materials, has a maximum take-off weight of 1 tonne, and has an endurance of 24 hours.
