Bundeswehr orders rotary-wing UAV for K130 corvette

The Bundesamt für Ausrüstung, Informationstechnik und Nutzung der Bundeswehr (BAAINBw), Germany's Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology, and In-Service Support, announced on 9 August that it had signed a contract at the beginning of the month with Elektroniksystem- und Logistik-GmbH (ESG) to procure the Skeldar V-200 rotary-wing unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) for the navy's K130 corvette.

The 3 August contract, also agreed with subcontractors UMS Skeldar and Lürssen, one of the shipyards building the K130, covers the delivery of a Skeldar V-200 unmanned aircraft system (UAS) consisting of two UAVs, full integration of the system into the K130, spare parts, and training of operators and maintainers.

The Skeldar V-200 will operate from the K130 at the end of 2019, according to the BAAINBw.
