The Afghan National Army’s (ANA's) 205th Corps has increased its combat capabilities with the establishment of a new quick-response unit called the Eagle Strike Company, according to an 18 July statement by the US Department of Defense (DoD).
The company, which was formed by selecting soldiers from across the four brigades of the 205th Corps, “is designed to be used to take back overrun checkpoints and district centres that are under attack”, US Army Major Danny Zimmer, 1st Security Force Assistance Brigade advisor, was quoted by the DoD as saying.
“[These soldiers] can be inserted in these locations via aircraft or by ground with minimal planning,” he added.
