Lockheed Martin has been awarded a USD64.7 million sole-source contract to upgrade the AN/ALQ-217 electronic support measures (ESM) system fitted to US Navy (USN) E-2D Advanced Hawkeye airborne early warning and control aircraft.
Awarded by the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) on 25 June, the contract covers the design, development, and integration of the Advanced Digital Receiver/Processor (ADRP) and Active Front End (AFE) upgrades to the existing AN/ALQ-217 receiver/processor and AFE weapons replaceable assemblies.
The contract also includes the delivery of 16 ESM ADRP upgrade hardware kits.
The AN/ALQ-217 ESM is a passive sensor fitted to the E-2D to measure, identify, and locate radio frequency (RF) emitters.
