Taiwanese F-16 fighter aircraft goes missing during training exercise

A single-seat Republic of China Air Force (RoCAF) F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter aircraft has gone missing while conducting a training mission near the city of Keelung, 23 km northeast of Taipei.

RoCAF officials said the aircraft disappeared from radar screens at 13:43 h (local time) on 4 June, 30 minutes after taking off from Hualien Air Base.

The authorities have launched a search-and-rescue operation in the Nuannuan District involving the National Airborne Service Corps.
