Persistent Systems has debuted an Upper C-Band module for its MPU5 mobile ad hoc network (MANET) radio.
The new module, which operates in the 5–6 GHz range, will enable users who are unable to get frequency approval or are operating in congested spectrums to access the non-licensed band, Louis Sutherland, vice-president, business development for military markets, told Jane’s .
“Any government entity that does not have authority to operate in a private spectrum or if their private spectrum is maxed out because they have so many users, this would be an alternative to solve crowded channels,” he said.
The module also allows users to operate unnoticed in large cities where 5 GHz commercial operation is widely used, the company said in a statement.
