Poland is extending the service life of its two Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigates – ORP General Kazimierz Pulaski and ORP General Tadeusz Kosciuszko – until 2024, the Armed Forces General Command confirmed to Jane's on 13 March.
Although the work will allow the extension of the service life of many subsystems, the use of some of them, like the Phalanx 20 mm close-in weapon system, will be restricted.
During standard dock repairs conducted under Foreign Military Sales procedures, ORP General Kazimierz Pulaski received a Link 16 system and its command system was upgraded to allow automatic detection and tracking of aerial and surface targets.
