China, Singapore to step up defence co-operation

China and Singapore have agreed to boost bilateral defence co-operation following a 5 January meeting between the defence ministers of both countries.

The Singapore Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) said in a statement that Chinese Defence Minister General Chang Wanquan proposed to his Singaporean counterpart, Ng Eng Hen, the deepening of army co-operation through the conduct of the 2018-2019 ‘Co-operation’ exercise and naval co-operation through port calls and other interactions.
