Political fight looms between European Parliament and Council over defence fund’s rules and financing

01 February 2018

A political battle is brewing between the European Parliament and the Council of Ministers over the scope and funding of the capability window of the European Union’s proposed European Defence Fund (EDF).

A battle over how to fund the window’s proposed launch budget of EUR500 million (USD621 million) for 2019–20 also looms.
