Belgium will sign contracts worth nearly EUR10 billion (USD12.4 billion) on dozens of programmes in 2018, the Belgian chief of defence has said.
Giving his New Year's address at the Royal Museum of the Armed Forces and Military History in Brussels on 25 January, which was published on the Belgian Defense website on 26 January, General Marc Compernol described 2018 as a "year of truth", with contracts to be signed on new aircraft, ships, and vehicles.
In an interview with the Belgian military's digital magazine, DBriefing , Gen Compernol said Belgium's Strategic Vision 2030 defence plan foresees "big investments" totalling EUR9.5 billion starting in 2019.
