A second Shaanxi Aircraft Corporation (SAC) Yunshuji-9 (Y-9) transport aircraft has entered service with China’s People's Liberation Army Ground Force (PLAGF), according to a report by the state-owned China Daily newspaper.
The medium-lift transport, which is powered by four turboprops, was delivered on 15 December to an aviation brigade of the 81st Group Army, reported the media outlet, pointing out that the first aircraft of the type was received by the PLAGF in December 2016.
Citing a PLAGF statement, the paper reported that the second Y-9 will further enhance the service’s "long-range transport capabilities". It also noted that the two Y-9s will now be despatched on training missions on plateaus and used to practise tactical manoeuvres.
