Australia invites SMEs to bid for air defence supply contracts

17 November 2017

The Australian Department of Defence (DoD) is inviting local companies to bid for supply contracts on the programme to procure a short-range ground-based air defence (GBAD) capability for the Australian Army.

The DoD said in a press release on 17 November that it will hold seven industry showcase events aimed at connecting Australian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with Raytheon Australia, the company selected as prime system integrator on the AUD2 billion (USD1.5 billion) programme.

To meet the GBAD requirement under the Land 19 Phase 7B project, Raytheon will supply its National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System (NASAMS). Raytheon was selected as sole bidder in the programme in April 2017.
