Easing the burden (ES14E2)

17 June 2014

Launched two years ago, an advanced backpack support system devised by Marom Dolphin is already in use by a number of armed forces in addition to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). It is also to be supplied in thousands to an unnamed European army. The company is showcasing the backpack system on Stand D682 in Hall 6.

Made of lightweight but strong materials, the system enables soldiers to carry heavyweight backpacks over tactical and ballistic gear, thus helping them to accomplish their missions and increase operational capabilities.

The system’s advantage lies in a flexible hinge that allows the carrier’s frame to float and expand over a ballistic vest, thus transferring weight from the shoulders directly to the waist belt. The innovative solution allows soldiers free use of their arms and hands and facilitates the carriage of heavy weights on top of any tactical vest. The advanced backpack support system confers a proper weight distribution on the soldier’s body and ensures that this is maintained during such movements as standing, running, lying down, and kneeling.

The carrier is equipped with a strapping system, which allows for quick and easy adjustment to the soldier’s height and body build. This adjustment is long-lasting and remains in place, even during extended marches.

The backpack can be used either as a general-purpose frame with straps for quick connection of any kind of equipment, or integrated into any designated carrier system, with full compatibility.
