Peru cabinet reshuffle signals medium-term stability on economy and energy policy

Peruvian president Ollanta Humala conducted a cabinet reshuffle on 24 February.

The reshuffle included the appointment of Rene Cornejo, an engineer and mathematician who had been serving as minister of housing, as the new president of the Council of Ministers. Eight new ministers were appointed, including Eleodoro Mayorga Alba as minister of energy and mines. Mayorga Alba is an engineer with extensive experience of the hydrocarbons sector. Previously, he served as director of the Camisea gas project for state oil company Petroperú, also working in the planning department of the Ministry of Energy and Mines and at the World Bank in various energy-related positions.
