Belcan buys IT firm Telesis

US engineering firm Belcan has acquired US information technology provider Telesis, which serves defence and intelligence agencies and other government customers, Belcan announced on 2 November.

Belcan CEO Lance Kwasniewski said that the acquisition would add “complementary capabilities and greater scale” to his company’s government IT business. “Telesis not only has close, long-term relationships with leading federal customers, but its solutions and services are well-aligned with future federal spending priorities in the US,” Kwasniewski added. According to its website, Telesis has been selected to provide cyber-security support to the US Marine Corps. It has also been tapped by the US Army to provide “mission command support”, such as applications management, computer forensics, and web development.

Dave Jefferson, chief strategy officer at Telesis, said that becoming part of a larger organisation would enable his company to provide more services to its customers and more opportunities to its employees. Founded in 1998, Telesis has 500 employees and is headquartered in McLean, Virginia, near Washington, DC. Belcan, which was formed in 1958, has 10,000 employees and is based in Cincinnati, Ohio. The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
