MKU to begin delivery of night-vision weapon sights to Indian Army

MKU, based in Kanpur in northern India, is planning to deliver the first batch of its night-vision weapon sights to the Indian Army.
A company spokesperson told Janes on 20 July that about 4,000 NW-3000 night-vision weapon sights will be delivered to the army by the end of 2026.
The delivery forms part of a INR6.6 billion (USD62.1 million) contract signed in October 2025 between MKU and the army for 29,762 NW-3000 weapon sights.
The spokesperson said the weapon sight underwent nearly 12 months of “stringent” trials under the Indian Ministry of Defence (MoD), including testing in high-altitude, high-temperature, and subzero environments, before being selected.
MKU developed Netro NW-3000 under India's IDDM (Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured) procurement category, which gives priority to locally built defence equipment, to support night-time target engagement by special task forces.
According to the company, NW-3000 is compatible with assault rifles and is equipped with night-vision sensor technology designed to provide a wider field of view. The sight includes a built-in infrared (IR) illuminator and is compatible with weapons fitted with MIL-STD-1913-compliant picatinny rails.
According to MKU, the NW-3000 sight can detect personnel at 500 m, recognise them at 300 m, and identify them at 100 m. Against platforms, it has a detection range of 600 m, a recognition range of 400 m, and an identification range of 150 m.
