Farnborough 2026: Destinus unveils Vorexon point defence counter-rocket artillery and anti-missile concept

Destinus unveiled the Vorexon point defence counter-rocket artillery and anti-missile concept on the first day of the Farnborough International Airshow 2026 held on 20-24 July 2026. The ground-based interceptor concept is being designed to provide selective point defence of critical military and infrastructure assets against artillery rockets and selected artillery shells.

According to Destinus, the concept addresses a layer largely missing from European integrated air defence: rapidly identifying incoming projectiles predicted to strike a defended area and engaging only those that threaten priority assets. The company said in a press release on 20 July that Vorexon is conceived to be deployed around command posts, air defence radars and batteries, ammunition stores, bridges, logistic hubs, and other high-value sites, complementing, not replacing, existing air defence and counter-battery systems.

At the unveiling ceremony in Farnborough, Destinus CEO Mikhail Kokorich said that the single-stage Vorexon can achieve a speed of Mach 2.7 and has a range up to 20 km. The interceptor has an active radar seeker with midcourse correction and terminal homing under operator command. It can be launched from a vehicle-mounted or static canister launcher.

Kokorich reported that Vorexon prototypes are flying in Spain, with full scale testing planned for 2027 and production for 2028, partly in Spain and Germany. He said the interceptor could engage rocket artillery with a range of 100-150 km, simple ballistic targets, cruise missiles, and glide bombs. According to Kokorich, Vorexon is competitive with rocket artillery, with a price in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
