Indra identifies second of three vehicle production sites in Spain's northern corridor

Indra announced in a press release on 30 July 2026 that it would build a second of three military vehicle production plants in Spain's northern corridor. The first plant was built in Gijón in 2025 and the company said it was considering a third plant in the northern corridor.

Indra said it had acquired the site in As Pontes, A Coruña province, measuring over 50,000 m² with a built area of 15,000 m² for a new military vehicle factory, in which it plans to invest around EUR18 million (USD20.7 million).

Together with Indra's production centre in Gijón, the As Pontes facility will increase the industrial floor space of Indra Land Vehicles to 40,000 m², which the company said could reach 55,000 m² with the addition of a third plant in the northern corridor that is yet to be selected.

Indra expects the As Pontes centre to integrate amphibious combat vehicles, bridge-laying vehicles, and wheeled artillery systems that the company will develop for the Spanish Armed Forces. In addition to integration, the centre will test, validate, and place these systems into service, with new industrial capabilities to handle highly complex programmes and its own test track to help accelerate their execution and delivery, according to Indra. The company plans to turn Spain's northern corridor into a major European hub specialising in military vehicles, with the capacity to integrate and produce around 500 units a year.
