Inkas expands manufacturing capacity in Canada, US

Inkas, a Canadian armoured vehicle manufacturer and systems integrator, is significantly expanding its manufacturing and production space with three newly leased facilities, the company said in a 30 June statement.

A new facility in Toronto, Ontario, offers approximately 42,000 sq ft; an armoured vehicle production facility in Charlotte, North Carolina, 200,000 sq ft; and a first-time facility in Fort Pierce, Florida, adds 31,000 sq ft, the statement said.

“These facilities are expected to more than double Inkas' production space across North America, strengthening the company's ability to support growing demand from government, defence, law enforcement, commercial security, and specialised vehicle customers,” the statement said.

The expansion is expected to provide “greater production flexibility, additional manufacturing capacity, and a stronger operational platform to support both current and future programmes across its armoured vehicle, tactical platform, drone/UAV [unmanned aerial vehicle], and special purpose vehicle portfolios”, according to the statement.

It also positions Inkas to “better serve domestic and international customers while supporting more efficient production, faster program execution, and future growth across key markets”, the statement said.

Expanding portfolio

Inkas, headquartered in Toronto, has been in business for 30 years, focusing on the export market for protected vehicles for law enforcement and VIP applications, David Khazanski, CEO for Inkas, told Janes on 10 July, adding that “90-95% of our production” is exported.

Customers include Canadian agencies, US agencies, such as the Department of State, large companies, and embassies around the world, he said.
