Thousands of Polandʼs WB Groupʼs family of Warmate loitering munitions have been delivered to Ukraine since 2014, a senior communications representative of WB Group told Janes on 10 November.

“They [Warmate loitering munitions] are combat-proven and repeatedly operated in GNSS (global navigation satellite system)-denied environments,” he said, adding that the Warmate family employs three independent navigation systems that enable precise terminal flight and target engagement at ranges over 80 km.

On 7 November, the company announced it had signed new contracts for the delivery of 1,000 new Warmate 3 loitering munitions to non-European armed forces.

The Warmate 3 can carry up to a 3 kg warhead and has the capability to engage targets at distances exceeding 80 km, the WB Group representative told Janes . “The Warmate 3 operational range depends on how the loitering munition is employed in the battlefield – whether it is intended to loiter for extended periods as on-demand aerial support, to be used as a long-range precision projectile, or to perform an intermediate role (fly to a zone and then loiter there to ‘huntʼ targets),” he said.

The Warmate 3 has a cruising speed of around 90 km/h, an operational altitude of 1,000 m above ground level (AGL), a radio range of 100 km radio line of sight (RLOS), and a maximum altitude of 3,500 m above mean sea level (AMSL).

The Warmate 3 can be equipped with one of the following warhead types –
