Elbit Systems UK has been selected to design and deliver training solutions for the Royal Navy (RN) Dreadnought Crew Training (DCT) programme, the company announced on 9 May.

As part of the DCT, a team led by Raytheon UK has selected Elbit Systems UK to support the definition and provision of shore-based simulators and training aids, the company said.

The training solution will train RN crews ahead of deployment on the Dreadnought class of submarines.

Raytheon UK is the prime contractor and systems integrator for delivering an integrated training solution in the new future submarine school in HM Naval Base Faslane and other RN training sites and will deliver a new test and reference facility that will enable all integration and testing, the company noted.

An Elbit Systems spokesperson told Janes that the total value of the contract is GBP160 million (USD197 million), and has a duration of seven years.

Elbit Systems UK submitted a bid for the programme in the “summer of 2021”, the spokesperson said.

Besides Elbit Systems UK and Raytheon UK, the team includes training transformation partners Vertex Professional Services and Frazer-Nash Consultancy, the spokesperson added.

Following the seven-year programme, Fisher Training will deliver the day-to-day crew training service, as part of the Selborne contract, the spokesperson added.
