US approves possible Javelin sale to UK

The US Department of State approved a possible US Foreign Military Sales (FMS) to the United Kingdom of 600 Javelin FGM-148F anti-tank missiles for an estimated cost of USD125 million, the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) announced in a press release on 28 February.
The possible sale also includes US government technical assistance and other logistics and programme support.
The prime contractors will be the Raytheon-Lockheed Martin Javelin Joint Venture (JJV).
The DSCA announced in August 2022 that the Department of State had approved a possible FMS for 513 Javelin Lightweight Command Launch Units (LWCLUs) to the UK for an estimated cost of USD300 million.
The DSCA expects the proposed sale of Javelin missiles and LWCLUs to “improve the United Kingdom's capability to meet current and future threats. The United Kingdom will use the enhanced capability to build its long-term defence capacity to meet its national defence requirements”.
Javelin will enhance the anti-armour capability of British Army battlegroups and ensure the service maintains its battlefield advantage, according to the UK Ministry of Defence.
