Russia intersperses Victory Day parade coverage with weapons footage

The Kremlin interspersed coverage of the Victory Day parade in Moscow on 9 May 2026 with footage of Russian weapons. The footage gave a rare glimpse of the Peresvet laser system and 2S44 Giantsint K wheeled self-propelled howitzer (SPH).
Narration over the Russian state footage claimed Peresvet could put satellites and missiles out of action. Russia declared the system combat ready in December 2019, but it has been little seen since then.
Footage of the Giansint K showed it being fired with the crew outside the vehicle. This was followed by footage of the similar 2S43 Malva SPH being fired in the same way. The Giansint K was first shown in 2019.
The narration incorrectly identified an S-350 air defence system as the larger S-500, though it is not known if this was deliberate. Mounted on an 8x8 truck, the S-350 has interceptors with a smaller diameter than the S-500, which is mounted on a 10x10 truck.
