Rheinmetall received two artillery ammunition orders for Ukraine during the second quarter of 2026.
On 7 July, the company announced in a press release that a NATO member state had commissioned Rheinmetall to supply several thousand 155 mm artillery shells and propellant charges valued in the mid-double-digit million euro range. Production is already underway, with the order planned to be completed before April 2027. The ER02A1 BB (base bleed) projectiles are manufactured by Rheinmetall Expal Munitions in Spain, and the DM72 modular propellant charges are supplied by Nitrochemie in Germany.
On 30 June, Rheinmetall announced in a press release that Ukraine had commissioned it to supply ER02A1 BB 155 mm artillery shells and M203 propellant charges in the low five-figure range valued in the high double-digit million euro range.
Production, also by Rheinmetall Expal Munitions, has already begun, and the contract is planned to be completed in the first quarter of 2027.
Asked if the orders were related to the NATO summit defence industry forum held in Ankara on 7 July, a Rheinmetall spokesperson told Janes on 8 July that the two orders were not connected to the 7-8 July summit.
