Poland unveils light machine gun and rifle-mounted C-UAV system

A Polish-developed 5.56×45 mm light machine gun (LMG) demonstrator was publicly unveiled at the MSPO 2026 defence exhibition held in Kielce, Poland from 8-11 September.
The weapon is being jointly developed by Fabryka Broni ‘Łucznik'-Radom, the Military Institute of Armament Technology (WITU), and the Military University of Technology (WAT).
Fabryka Broni confirmed at MSPO that the LMG has reached Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 6 and is undergoing development and factory testing. Janes understands that the partners aim to reach TRL 9 and production readiness within approximately two years. This could enable the weapon to be made available for Polish Armed Forces testing and evaluation from around 2028, although the schedule will depend on the outcome of further development and qualification testing.
The belt-fed weapon is chambered for 5.56×45 mm NATO ammunition and uses a short-stroke gas-piston operating system, with the piston positioned below the barrel. A manually adjustable gas regulator provides three settings for normal operation, adverse conditions, and use with a suppressor.
The LMG fires from an open bolt and provides both automatic and semi-automatic fire. According to the developers, the semi-automatic mode is intended to enable more accurate engagement of targets at longer ranges, while automatic fire provides the weapon's suppression capability.
The stated cyclic rate of fire is 650–750 rounds per minute. Effective range is given as 500 m against point targets and up to 800 m against area targets.
