PGZ displays fixed mortar turret system

Zakłady Mechaniczne “Tarnów” (ZM Tarnów), a subsidiary of Polish defence giant Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ), showcased a static mortar turret at the MSPO 2026 exhibition in Kielce, Poland held from 8-11 September.
The company showcased the 120mm mortar turret manufactured by another PGZ subsidiary, Huta Stalowa Wola (HSW) integrated on top of an upgraded shipping container.
A company official at MSPO explained to Janes how the concept remains a “technology demonstrator” before suggesting it could be used for “drop and go” operations on land. This means the solution is intended to be inserted by air, road or sea, carried in transport aircraft, cargo trucks or patrol boats respectively, before being used for force protection or fire support missions.
The official suggested to Janes the demonstrator remains an internally funded effort by ZM Tarnów although there is interest from the Polish Land Forces for such a capability.
The turret mounts a variant of the Polish Land Forces' M120 Rak self-propelled mortar system, of the type mounted on an 8x8 Rosomak armoured vehicle, according to the company. The 120 mm mortar tube can be used for direct and indirect fire missions.
The mortar has a maximum rate of fire of up to eight rounds per minute with a maximum range of 10,000 m, according to HSW documentation. It can fire at elevation angles from -3 o to +80 o with capacity to traverse 360 o . The turret also includes a 7.62 mm UKM 2000D medium machine gun.
