Croatia's DOK-ING is combining flail anf tiller methods within its unmanned MV-10 deminer in Ukraine, company representatives told Janes at the Black Sea Defense Aerospace (BSDA) exhibition, held in Bucharest from 13-15 May 2026.
The MV-10 is a 22-tonne, remotely operated mine-clearance unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) and was first deployed to Ukraine in 2024 following a EUR25 million support package for humanitarian demining announced at an EU-Ukraine Summit in February 2023.
The MV-10 uses a combination of a flails and tillers for mechanical destruction or detonation of anti-personnel and anti-vehicle mines. The flails and tillers are positioned in tandem, with the flails more suited to destroying or detonating surface-laid mines in optimal soil conditions. The tillers use rotation teeth to cut and churn the soil and are more suited to countering subterranean mines.
The combination of both systems of demining in one package offers an improved probability of successful mine clearance on the first passing, said Krešimir Marjanović, a demining subject matter expert at DOK-ING. Marjanović, who was also based in Ukraine as an instructor for Ukrainian operators, said that the MV-10 has a wireless remote-control range of 1.5 km and was used within the combat zone, although behind the immediate frontline.
According to Marjanović, of the 69 MV-10s sent to Ukraine, all are still operational as of May 2026. One was damaged during an enemy unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) strike in the field, but was repaired and returned to service. The MV-10s have also survived nearby detonations of large anti-vehicle mines such as those of the TM-62 series, designed to destroy main battle tanks.
