Defence company EXO designed the PM EA 1 unmanned ground vehicle for the Argentine Army (Santiago Rivas)

Argentine Army and local defence companies displayed upgraded unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) technology demonstrators at a 29 May military ceremony.

The ceremony showcased new UGV features, including weapons. One of the UGVs was equipped with a first person view (FPV) unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), which appears to be the first public Argentine Army display of this capability.

The Army Research and Development Directorate, in collaboration with defence company EXO, revealed the PM EA 1 UGV has the capability to deploy FPVs, according to a presentation during the ceremony. The vehicle was shown with seven FPVs during the event, but has the capacity for more with a total load capacity of 500 kg, according to an EXO representative.

Meanwhile, FixView equipped its Kabuto UGV platform with a gyrostabilised turret with a FN MAG general purpose machine gun, which gives it the ability to act in attack and support missions, FixView CEO Marcelo Buteler told Janes on 29 May. The turret also mounts a day camera and an infrared camera. In 2025, it was shown with a satellite control dome.

Army Faculty of Engineering developed its Autonomous Exploration Vehicle (Vehículo Autónomo de Exploración) as a multi-mission UGV. While it has been equipped with cameras and LIDAR in previous public showings, the army showcased a new gyrostabilised turret for a MAG machine gun. Evaluations with the army are ongoing, the service said in a May 2026 statement.

AR Robotics-designed Skua was displayed with optical cameras, LIDAR, GPS, and ground penetrating radar for subsurface mapping. It has been evaluated in different terrains, including Antarctica, defence officials have said.
