ADSB fast patrol vessel seen with Turkish CIWS

Abu Dhabi Ship Building's (ADSB's) 45 m FA-400 fast patrol vessel has been fitted with the Gökdeniz close-in weapon system (CIWS) developed by Türkiye's Aselsan.

A video posted on the YouTube channel of ADSB's parent company Edge on 3 September briefly showed the FA-400 at sea with a Gökdeniz mounted on the port side of the vessel's rear deck.

Derived from Aselsan's Korkut self-propelled anti-aircraft gun, the CIWS is usually fitted to larger corvettes and frigates. It has two 35 mm guns that can fire programmable air-bursting ammunition that the company says is effective at 4 km against aerial targets that include sea-skimming anti-ship missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

The FA-400 was also armed with what looked like two launchers for LOGIR missiles behind its bridge and a remotely operated weapon station (ROWS) on its foredeck. Designed to simultaneously engage multiple boats, the LOGIR system is already fitted to numerous vessels in service with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Naval Forces.

The ROWS could not be identified but it was not the Dynatec Rogue that was fitted to the vessel when it was unveiled at the NAVDEX show held in Abu Dhabi in February 2025 as its ammunition container was clearly mounted on its left side, not across its front.

The mock-up electro-optical system that was fitted to the FA-400's mast for NAVDEX has been replaced and another two seemingly added to bridge's roof as directors for the LOGIR launchers.

The mock-up radar antenna has also been removed but not replaced, which is why the Gökdeniz had its own search radar.
