Pentagon awards GE Aviation contract modification for engine parts

The US Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) on 24 July awarded GE Aviation a contract modification worth about USD259 million for supplies related to aircraft engine platform support, according to a Pentagon statement.

DLA spokesperson Patrick Mackin said on 27 July that the award is for consumable piece part supplies related to GE Aviation F101, 110, and 118 engines. The F101 powers the Rockwell B-1B Lancer bomber while the Boeing F-15EX Advanced Eagle will use the F110. The Lockheed Martin F-16C/D Block 30, F-16CG/DG Block 40, and the F-16CM/DM Block 50 Fighting Falcon models use an F110 engine. The F118 is found in the Lockheed U-2 Dragon Lady high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft and the Northrop Grumman B-2A Spirit bomber.

The contract modification exercises the three-year option period of an eight-year base contract. The award also includes one three-year option period for supplies. The 24 July award brings the total cumulative face value of the contract to USD893 million from USD633 million.
