Spain will receive 34 IDV SuperAV 8x8 Marine Infantry Amphibious Combat Vehicles (Vehículo Anfibio Combate IM: VACIM) from Indra Land Vehicles under an agreement the two companies announced they had signed in a joint press release published on 17 April 2026. The companies said the Spanish Ministry of Defence (MoD) had requested the vehicles, which IDV will supply to Indra for the integration of mission systems, within the framework of Spain's Special Modernisation Programmes (Programas Especiales de Modernización: PEM).
According to the press release, Indra plans to deliver four VACIM variants: troop transport, command and control (C2), recovery, and ambulance.
An IDV spokesperson told Janes on 24 April that the SuperAV 8x8 platforms will be delivered to Indra progressively once the initial production vehicles are completed. She added, “Indra will carry out the integration once the vehicles are received from IDV, following a phased approach aligned with deliveries. Integration activities, including system installation, validation and final acceptance, will be performed in Spain, at Indra's facilities in Asturias, throughout the programme execution period.
“The vehicles will be equipped with mission systems, C2 solutions, communications, digital architecture and support systems adapted to the specific requirements of the Spanish Marines. Regarding armament, the configuration will be defined by the Spanish Ministry of Defence, and integration will be carried out accordingly. For security and contractual reasons, specific system details are not publicly disclosed.
“The delivery of the 34 vehicles will be carried out progressively between 2027 and 2030, in accordance with the programme plan. This phased delivery allows for training, validation and gradual entry into service by the Spanish Marines.”
