Germany approves procurement of 227 more BvS10 ATVs

The Bundestag, Germany's parliament, approved the procurement of 227 more BvS10 all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) under the Collaborative All-Terrain Vehicle (CATV) programme, the German Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced on its website on 29 March. The EUR919 million (USD1 billion) cost of the vehicles will be covered by Germany's EUR100 billion Sondervermögen special defence fund approved after Russia invaded Ukraine.

Deliveries are scheduled to begin in November 2025 and to be completed by 2030. The German MoD said the CATV programme would be used for the protected transport of personnel and materiel, mainly weapons, ammunition, supplies, and special equipment, and provide mobility in difficult, partly mountainous terrain in extreme climates. It will be used for national and alliance defence, in operations conducted worldwide by Germany's Special Forces Command (Kommando Spezialkräfte: KSK), and international crisis and conflict prevention operations, according the the German MoD.
