Finland and Sweden procure first TRACKX tracked vehicles

Finland and Sweden have ordered their first TRACKX tracked vehicles, the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) and Patria announced on 30 September 2026. The FMV said on its website that Sweden ordered five vehicles for testing and evaluation, and Patria added in a press release that Finland signed a letter of intent with the Finnish company on potential future serial deliveries.

Serial production

A Patria spokesperson told Janes on 5 October that serial production would begin in 2027, when both Finland and Sweden would receive their first tracked vehicles. She noted that Finland had not communicated the number of vehicles ordered, so she said she was not in a position to comment on the matter.

The FMV and Patria said that after deliveries of the vehicles begin in 2027, both countries would conduct national field trials and evaluations to assess the vehicles' suitability for operational use. In addition, part of the testing is expected to be conducted jointly between the nations, according to Patria.

Jussi Järvinen, executive vice president of Patria's protected mobility business area, said on 30 September, “The transition from development to procurements is an important milestone for Patria TRACKX. It allows Finland and Sweden to begin comprehensive field testing of the vehicle while strengthening cooperation on a common tracked mobility capability. We see strong potential for broader multinational cooperation around a common tracked vehicle platform. We are strengthening our production and delivery capabilities with the aim of commencing Patria TRACKX deliveries also to other customer nations in 2027.”
