Eurosatory 2026: Finnish startup SCATA declares Mk1 4x4 vehicle ready to order

Finnish startup Sophisticated Combat Automotive and Technical Assembly (SCATA) displayed its Mk1 4x4 armoured vehicle at the KNDS Mobility stand on the first day of the Eurosatory 2026 defence exhibition being held in Paris on 15-19 June and declared it ready to order. The SCATA Mk1 is based on a licensed chassis design from KNDS Mobility, combined with in-house design and production of armoured vehicle bodies at SCATA's facilities in Jakobsstad on the Gulf of Bothnia.

SCATA founder and CEO Victor Ekman told Janes at Eurosatory on 15 June that production of the vehicle would begin in 2026. He said the SCATA Mk1 was planned to undergo blast trials after Eurosatory. He added that SCATA Mk1 production could be ramped up to 100 a year in 2027.

The SCATA Mk1 was presented at Eurosatory in the presence of the Finnish ambassador to France, but Ekman did not expect Finland to be the first customer for the vehicle. The SCATA Mk1 4x4 vehicle is aimed at markets in the Middle East, Nordic countries, and Central Europe. A KNDS Mobility spokesperson told Janes on 15 June that customers “can localise the production of their own vehicles in other countries due to the kit by kit production logic we use. Thanks to that, assembly can be conducted anywhere, and actually where the vehicles are needed/and or where there is industrial capacity.”

SCATA positions the vehicle between the 14-tonne Sisu GTP 4x4 and 24-tonne Pasi 6x6 armoured vehicle. According to SCATA, its Mk1 vehicle has a combat weight of 18 tonnes, including a payload of up to 4.5 tonnes, and features NATO Standardization Agreement (STANAG) level 2 and 3 protection.
