CSG Defence and FNSS signed a framework agreement on the second day of the Eurosatory 2026 defence exhibition held in Paris on 15-19 June to establish Danube Defence Systems to deliver medium armoured vehicle platforms, including the CFL-120 Karpat medium tank.

Joint venture

The two companies said in a joint press release that upon completion of the transaction and fulfilment of the necessary contractual and regulatory requirements, Danube Defence Systems would be 51% owned by CSG Defence and 49% by FNSS.

CSG will lead marketing and manufacturing activities, initially leveraging its existing MSM Land Systems site in Trenčín, Slovakia, and FNSS will provide technology transfer, know-how and platform licences for local production. The companies will jointly manage financial and administrative activities. They said the Trenčín facility offers a centrally-located logistics infrastructure, hull welding, machining, integration and testing capabilities, as well as a regional supplier network.

In addition to the Karpat medium tank, Danube Defence Systems will offer variants including armoured personnel carrier and infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) within the Karpat family, as well as additional FNSS wheeled and tracked vehicles to be produced in Europe. It will also offer the full FNSS weapon system portfolio.
