A British Army Boxer armoured personnel carrier (APC) was displayed with side protection from an AmSafe rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) net at the Defence Vehicle Demonstration (DVD) 2026 exhibition held in Millbrook, UK, on 16-17 September.
According to AmSafe, based in Bridport, Devon, UK, Tarian RPG armour has been tested globally, including against hundreds of RPG shots, and can withstand multiple hits. The company claims a Tarian system typically weighs 5-10 kg/m², with weight savings up to 90% compared to bar armour, as well as lower through-life cost due to less damage, resulting in reduced vehicle downtime, with fewer repairs and less maintenance.
AmSafe says that Tarian light weight allows it to be installed and repaired quicker, easier, and safer by fewer personnel with no specialist tools. A patented swing arm system allows Tarian to be folded within minutes before being air- or sealifted and to be ready upon disembarkation. According to AmSafe, Tarian's fold flat lightweight and flexible design allows access to or egress from manned areas in an emergency.
In addition, AmSafe offers the Tarian QuickShield lightweight kit to replace damaged or missing armour so a vehicle and its crew continue to be protected and can return to operational service while awaiting bar armour repairs.
