The Brazilian operation of Iveco Defence Vehicles (IDV) will start delivery of the Light Multirole Vehicle BR 2 (LMV-BR 2) light armoured tactical vehicle in September, the company's head of marketing for Latin America, Giovani Giordani, told Janes on 3 September.

Locally designated as the Viatura Blindada Multitarefa Leve Sobre Rodas (VBMT-LSR) Guaicurus, the first 4x4 vehicle in the multi-purpose configuration is scheduled to be delivered the second week of September to the Brazilian Army, Giovanni said. Another 14 vehicles are on track for delivery by 31 December, Giovanni added.

The production of the vehicle through the completely knocked down (CKD) manufacturing process is taking place at an assembly line that was formally inaugurated in March 2026 at the company's plant in Sete Lagoas, in the state of Minas Gerais.

Several components are manufactured in Brazil, Giovanni said. The Directorate of Manufacturing ordered 420 LMV-BR 2 vehicles in July 2024 worth BRL1.4 billion together with associated and support services, as part of the “Army Strategic Program Armoured Forces”.

IDV plans to deliver the remainder of the fleet in several variants by 2033: for cavalry squadrons of mechanized and armoured infantry brigades, as well as the 1st Parachute Infantry Brigade and the 12th Light Infantry Brigade, the Brazilian Army has said.
