Eurosatory 2026: France orders NLAW

The Direction Générale de l'Armement (DGA), the French defence procurement agency, has signed a contract with Saab for the Next Generation Light Anti-tank Weapon (NLAW), the Swedish company announced in a press release on the second day of the Eurosatory 2026 defence exhibition held in Paris on 15-19 June. Saab said deliveries are scheduled for 2026-30 and that the order includes NLAWs as well as indoor and outdoor trainers, with the option to order more of the weapons.
The French Army's Fantassins (Infantry) magazine published a photo of a French soldier equipped with NLAW in Estonia in its spring-summer (second-third quarter) 2024 issue. The magazine estimated the price of an NLAW at EUR60,000-100,000 (USD68,570-114,293) purchased off the shelf.
It said that the weapon would fill the anti-tank capability gap in French infantry regiments in the 0-1,000 m range. It described NLAW as a lightweight missile system weighing 12.5 kg with an effective range of 20-800 m, providing support to dismounted soldiers.
