Anduril's Arsenal-1 facility aims to provide flexible capacity for defence production

Anduril is building out its Arsenal-1 facility in Ashville, Ohio, to meet growing demand for its defence products, Keith Flynn, senior vice-president of production for Anduril, told Janes during a media visit to Arsenal-1 on 19 March.

Industry is seeing a need to produce “these assets, for ourselves and for our allies, at a rate that hasn't been done for a long time”, he said, adding that “If you look from [20]25 to [20]26, we're seeing a 15-fold increase in the number of assets or units that we are producing.” He noted that this figure includes new products and increased production of existing products.

Arsenal-1 is Anduril's initiative to support this increased demand, he said. “As a site, we're looking to have the capacity of 5 million sq ft [464, 515 sq m] across the entire campus”, Flynn said.

Building 1, which reporters toured, provides about 866,000 sq ft of production space, while the under-construction Building 2 will total about 1 million sq ft, John Malone, head of production for autonomous airpower for Anduril, told reporters during the tour.

“This will be a billion-dollar commitment from us across the entire project and over 10 years we expect to deploy more than 4,000 people at this site,” Flynn added.

The company has been accelerating the project. “When we first did the initial planning for Arsenal, we were looking to have this site come online in early [20]27,” he said, adding that “we wanted to move forward even faster, so we moved that ahead to mid-2026”.
