Türkiye fields new CBRN UAS

Türkiye has showcased a new unmanned aircraft system (UAS) for decontamination in support of missions in chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) environments.
Developed by Turkish defence company Zyrone and in service with the Turkish armed forces since 2025, the PUHU-KBRN UAS was seen publicly for the first time during Exercise ‘EFES-2026' held in the Doğanbey firing and exercise area in Izmir, Türkiye, in late May 2026.
The PUHU-KBRN UAS is designed to conduct remote decontamination missions, reducing the need for personnel to enter hazardous areas. It can perform liquid and powder-based decontamination, support the cleaning of contaminated personnel, vehicles and infrastructure, and carry cargo to affected areas.
The system enables the decontamination of horizontal surfaces, such as open contaminated areas, as well as vertical surfaces including vehicles and buildings. Equipped with a 25 litre decontamination liquid payload, the air vehicle can clean an area of approximately 200–250 m² at a stand-off distance of up to 10 km from the safe zone. For vertical surface decontamination, it can operate against contaminated vehicles or structures at a distance of 2–3 m from the target.
It can also conduct personnel decontamination missions. With its 25-litre decontamination liquid capacity, cleaning contaminated personnel at distances of up to 15 km from the safe area.
In addition to CBRN missions, the system can also be configured for cargo transportation. The PUHU-KBRN has a maximum take-off weight of less than 75 kg and can carry a maximum payload of 30 kg. The maximum volume available for payloads is 25 litre.
