TigerShark one-way effector achieves first flight milestone

UK-based MGI Engineering has completed first flights of its TigerShark low-cost deep strike effector, the company announced on 1 April.
MGI said it marked “the first time Europe has successfully tested a new system of this range in over a decade, capable of reaching speeds of 750 km/h, operating effectively in GNSS [Global Navigation Satellite System]-denied environments, carrying a 300 kg payload, and striking targets at ranges exceeding 1,000 km”. No further details of flight testing have been released, although a video released by MGI suggests that testing was performed at the Ministry of Defence (MoD) Hebrides range.
TigerShark was designed to meet UK and allied requirements for a low-cost one-way effector (heavy) that can be rapidly scaled for series production. The company has worked with software house Auterion, which is providing its Skynode autonomy software core.
According to MGI, TigerShark is baselined with a multi-sensor navigation package combining inertial navigation, anti-jam GNSS, and terrain mapping for robust operation in GNSS-denied environments. Launched using rocket-assisted takeoff, TigerShark features twin-stacked Argive 1100 turbojet engines for cruise.
