Pakistan has test-fired an extended-range (ER) version of its Fatah-IV land-attack surface-to-surface cruise missile, the Pakistan Armed Forces' Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced on 6 October.
The ISPR said the trial validated the missile's performance at extended ranges and assessed upgraded subsystems designed to improve accuracy and survivability.
The ISPR added, “Equipped with advanced avionics and state of the art navigational aids, the weapon system is capable of engaging targets at extended ranges with high precision and lethality. The test also validated additional technical parameters of various sub-systems incorporated for improved accuracy and enhanced survivability.” However, it did not elaborate.
Although the announcement was datelined Rawalpindi, Punjab, the ISPR did not disclose the test site. No details were released regarding the missile's maximum range, flight profile, payload, or propulsion system.
The ER version follows a training launch of the baseline Fatah-IV conducted by the Pakistan Army's Rocket Force Command (ARFC) in May 2026. At the time, the ISPR said the launch was intended to “enhance operational efficiency of the troops and validate technical parameters of various subsystems incorporated for improved accuracy and enhanced survivability”.
The baseline Fatah-IV was unveiled during Pakistan's Independence Day military event in August 2025. Information displayed at the event stated that the weapon has a range of 750 km, a maximum altitude of 50 m, a length of 7.5 m, and a weight of 1,530 kg.
According to the displayed information, the missile features terrain-hugging flight characteristics intended to reduce radar detection, has a maximum speed of Mach 0.7, and is equipped with a 330 kg blast-fragmentation conventional warhead.
