First A400M for Kazakhstan makes maiden flight

Airbus has flown the first of a pair of A400M Atlas transport aircraft for the Republic of Kazakhstan for the first time on 10 June.
The maiden flight of MSN139 took place out of the Seville production facility in Spain and lasted for approximately five hours. During the event, the aircraft's engines and systems were tested.
News of the first flight came some two months after the aircraft was rolled out in its bespoke high-gloss ‘wet' version of the familiar low-visibility grey paint scheme. It featured the standard markings of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan that are drawn on the country's Soviet past.
Having ordered two A400Ms in 2021, MSN139 will be delivered to the Kazakh Air Defense Forces (KADF) later in 2024.
Airbus' order book for the A400M comprises Belgium (seven), France (50), Germany (53), Indonesia (two, plus options for four), Kazakhstan (two), Luxembourg (one), Malaysia (four), Spain (27), Türkiye (10), and the United Kingdom (22). More than 120 A400Ms have been manufactured, accumulating 190,000 flight hours to date.
