Chinese technology company Nexwise showcased two configurations of its quadrupedal unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) at the Defence Services Asia (DSA) 2026 exhibition, held in Kuala Lumpur from 20 to 23 April.

Speaking to Janes, Nexwise overseas business and group brand director Zeng Yuan‑yuan said the two systems on display were configured for different missions: one for net‑capture operations and the other for autonomous patrol tasks.

Both versions feature payloads developed by Nexwise subsidiary ZanX and are based on a modular platform designed to accommodate a range of payloads, including weapon systems.

Zeng said Nexwise also provides an application programming interface (API) that enables users to integrate different payloads with the UGV depending on operational requirements. According to Zeng, the platform was demonstrated to Malaysian government officials during the first quarter of 2026.

The UGV is designed to autonomously detect potential threats and transmit alerts to a command centre. Once a threat is identified, the system can lock onto the target, with operators able to issue follow‑on instructions remotely. These can include the broadcasting of audio warnings directed at the identified individual or object, Zeng said.

Nexwise said the quadrupedal platform weighs 15 kg and is equipped with capabilities including wireless following, voice control, light detection and ranging (LIDAR)‑based navigation, autonomous path planning, and obstacle‑avoidance functions.
