Malaysian company Mildef unveiled a prototype of its 2x2 hybrid all-terrain vehicle (ATV) at the Defence Services Asia (DSA) 2026 exhibition, held in Kuala Lumpur from 20 to 23 April.

The ATV is designed to support reconnaissance and light logistics operations, with the platform currently undergoing internal testing, Mildef's supervisor project engineer Akmal Khusairi Bin Karim told Janes. Once testing is complete Mildef plans to offer the ATV to the Malaysian Army.

Karim said the vehicle's propulsion system combines an electric vehicle motor with a gas generator and that the platform has an endurance of five hours. It has has a payload capacity of 260 kg, which can include modular storage for operational use. “We can install a lot of compartments on this bike,” Karim said.

The platform has been configured to support infantry operations, although its ability to integrate weapons is limited. Karim said, “We have a rifle holder at the front [and] at the back we can put a compartment for ammunition.”

In addition to carriage and weapons support, the motorcycle is designed to tow light loads. Karim said the ATV is being tested internally, although purchase contracts have not yet been announced.

According to Mildef, the ATV has a top speed of 90 km/h. It has a range of 60 km on one battery, 120 km on two batteries, and 5 hours endurance range on one battery and one fuel tank. The vehicle can transport two dismounts.
