The Army's cyberwarfare capability directorate is eyeing development of a new family of systems (FoS) to support expeditionary offensive and defensive cross-domain cyberwarfare operations, Janes has learned.
The newly established Project Manager Cyberwarfare (PM CW) directorate under US Army Capability Program Executive for Intelligence and Spectrum Warfare (CPE ISW) is leading the FoS development, based on the Tactical Cyber Equipment Radiofrequency Delivery Effects Platform (TCE RDEP). The effort will help enable army-led expeditionary cyber missions.
“With offensive [cyber] enterprise, which US Cyber Command completely owns, and expeditionary offensive cyber which the army will retain ownership of, to [field] that kind of capability what we are looking at is a family of systems” within the TCE RDEP capability, PM CW chief US Army Colonel David Bergmann said.
Most recently, elements from PM CW, Army Combat Capabilities Development Command's (DEVCOM) Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C5ISR) Center and the 11th Cyber Battalion conducted a soldier touchpoint in October 2026 on the three main programme elements of the TCE RDEP programme.
“We are working with a couple of different vendors to do a couple of different prototypes and of various form factors and get some feedback,” Col Bergmann said during a 12 October interview, referring to the soldier touchpoint event. Further, elements of the 11th Cyber had been able to get hands on experience with fielded variants of “early prototypes of a man pack” during the event, he added during the interview at the Association of the United States Army's annual symposium in Washington, DC.
