Airbus Defence and Space (DS) is to shortly deliver the second of a pair of A400M Atlas transport aircraft for the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The manufacturer made the announcement on 1 October 2026, saying aircraft factory number MSN153 is now undergoing its final technical acceptance checks at the Seville final assembly line (FAL) in Spain ahead of delivery to the Ministry of Defense (MoD) of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

“Airbus Defence and Space is getting prepared to deliver the second A400M military transport aircraft to Kazakhstan. The aircraft has been painted in Kazakh livery and is currently undergoing technical acceptance. Once delivered, this A400M will expand the country's capacity to transport personnel, equipment, and humanitarian cargo,” Airbus DS said.

News of the impending milestone came 22 months after the aircraft, MSN139, was delivered to the Kazakh MoD on 5 December 2024.

The Kazakh Air Defense Forces (KADF) has opted to receive its A400Ms in a bespoke high-gloss ‘wet' version of the familiar low-visibility grey paint scheme. It featured the standard markings of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan that are drawn on the country's Soviet past.

Unlike all other operators, the KADF aircraft are not fitted with an aerial refuelling probe. Beyond the lack of the probe, Airbus previously declined to comment on the specifics of the Kazakh configuration for the aircraft.
