TrellisWare delivering new TW-145 radios to a NATO military

US company TrellisWare Technologies began delivery of its TW-145 Digital Radio Heads – externally mounted VHF/UHF software-defined radios (SDRs) for vehicles – in “high volume” to a European NATO military in June 2026, Haidong Wang, vice president of products and technologies at TrellisWare, told Janes at the Eurosatory 2026 exhibition held in Paris from 15-19 June.
Launched publicly by TrellisWare on 15 June, the TW-145 operates over the VHF (very high frequency) and UHF (ultra high frequency) bands (30–512 MHz). It is designed to be installed on a vehicle's external antenna mount to increase crew space, improve RF (radio frequency) performance, and simplify installation through a single power-and-data cable.
An IP-(internet protocol) based architecture allows integration with existing vehicular intercom systems, command and control (C2) applications, user devices, and beyond-line-of-sight (BLOS) communications systems.
The vehicular mounted SDR was purpose-built to extend mobile ad hoc network (MANET) communications to vehicles. “Most NATO vehicles have a standard mount. You take the existing antenna mount and run a single cable that's called Power over Ethernet [PoE]. It's a combined cable that provides the IP [internet protocol] data interface and power interface,” Wang said. The TW-145 turns a vehicle into a combat node or network node on the battlefield, and then on top of that, you have relays,” he added. According to TrellisWare, the system can support MANET networking over ranges of up to 330 km between network nodes under favourable conditions.
