Defence company Marine and Remote Sensing Solutions (MARSS) and the Nigerian Ministry of Defence will be finalising, in the coming weeks, the timescales around their memorandum of understanding (MoU) valued at over USD190 million, a representative of the company told Janes on 22 May

MARSS will be delivering national and regional command centres, mobile response units and a centre for simulations, training, and doctrine development, according to the representative.

As part of the MoU, MARSS' NiDAR command-and-control (C2) system will be integrated into central and regional command centres, national headquarters, mobile expeditionary vehicle platforms, unmanned systems, and with legacy C2 architectures. “NiDAR's sensor- and effector-agnostic design allows it to be integrated into both new and existing infrastructure as programme requirements evolve,” the MARSS representative said.

A statement announcing the signing of the MoU on 19 March mentions the programme scope which includes the integration of unmanned aircraft vehicles (UAVs) into NiDAR via Autonomous Mission Management (AMM). However, the company representative told Janes on 22 Maythat the integration of AMM is “not currently part of the mandatory scope of works”. They added that “as the programme matures, its [AMM] integration into this programme will be considered as part of a broad assessment of additional technical configurations”.

AMM was unveiled in London in September 2025. In tests carried out using the AMM in August 2025, one operator was able to oversee 10 UASs operating automatically, as previously reported by Janes.

The MoU was signed between MARSS, the Nigerian Ministry of Defence, and Nigerian companies MPS Mikopowers Ltd and APS Aegis Ltd, according to the 19 May MARSS announcement.
